Wasted Opportunities
At times in ministry, you have a chance to reflect on what God is doing. This past Sunday I had a moment where God just overwhelmed my heart with gratitude. As I was driving home Sunday afternoon, I reflected on the number of people who came to the altar during both services. I watched as they pleaded with God and released and laid their hands wide open to the sovereignty of God in their life. I also had the opportunity to baptize eight people. The testimonies of what God was doing in their lives moved my soul. I want to encourage you to stop in the busyness of this season to reflect on what God is doing around you, and to thank Him.
Last week we spent time wrestling through Psalm 139, and I hope it encouraged your heart that you are beautifully and wonderfully made for God’s glory and your good. I find it so humbling yet encouraging that we were created in His image for a mission of redemption. This Sunday, we will be exploring the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. We’ll discuss how God has sovereignly given you a gift out of the generosity of His heart. I have watched all too often people waste those gifts in their lives. When we waste that gift, we are wasting opportunities to impact others for the Kingdom of God. Do you ever think about the tragedy of wasted opportunities in your life? John Greenleaf Whittier said, “Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, it might have been.” May we not live a life saying what could have been. Join us tomorrow as we open God’s Word together and discuss living a life using God’s gifts the way He intended, and the consequences of not.
In Christ,
Pastor Khalil Ayoub
